Contrasted perfectly with the darker background, the clarity and sharpness of the simple white flowers is beautiful. The background completes and compliments the main focus beautifully. The muted grey and hints of blue are a perfect foil for the simple ivory of the main theme and save it from being a touch bland. The background and foreground make a complete picture, neither competing with or overshadowing each other. The flowers seem alive and vibrant so I guess they were growing rather than cut flowers and it is this vibrancy which catches the eye. All in all a very understated beautiful picture in a world where shock and discordant imagery seem to have taken hold
